On 3 December 2012, Alpiq announced the signing of the contract for the sale of its shareholding in Repower (24.6%) to the other two principal shareholders, the canton of Grisons and Axpo. This sale is part of the divestments that Alpiq is carrying out within the context of the ongoing restructuring programme and which are aimed at reducing the net debt by approximately 1.2 to 1.6 billion Swiss francs. The transaction was successfully concluded on 28 March. The responsible antitrust authorities in Switzerland and abroad have authorised the transaction. It was agreed with the purchasers not to disclose the purchase price.
As already communicated on 3 December 2012, Alpiq’s substantial entrepreneurial commitment in the canton of Grisons remains unaffected by the withdrawal of this financial participation, in particular also Alpiq’s energy services activities.
